Recently, a friend asked me to list a ‘top 10’ of destructive things from the current White House in the past 4 years. I struggled to answer it, not because there was nothing worth mentioning, but because there was so much.
The reason I know there's so much is because I've spent 2-3 hours a day most of the past 5 years, digging deep into what's going on in our country. I dare say I've paid more attention than most Americans and am pretty good at finding, absorbing, discerning, and digesting information. I am not an expert on ANY of the topics, but I know how to find information from people who are.
The list of atrocities and crimes against the United States
of America, the Constitution, and the people committed by the current
administration is so long, it is hard to recap it all or remember the worst of
the worst.
This blog post focuses primarily on things the President himself has done, or spearheaded; it does not include any of the corruption or other atrocities committed by others in his administration.
Eventually, I found a few
articles that point out some of the key items.
But even reading them doesn’t make the point for me. It is about the totality of utter lack of
respect for the laws of our country. Of
basic decency and ethics and morals and conduct. Of every single decision revolving around one
person and how best to make money off the presidency, with zero regard for the
long-term well-being and security of the United States and its people. Of destroying American’s belief and faith in
government itself, in science, in the freedom of the press and the value of a
free press, in our intelligence agencies, in our laws. Of convincing millions of Americans that our
elections are not free and fair, that the election system is rife with fraud and
rigged against the president...none of that is true, and no proof has been
offered to support this or any of the other big lies. Of refusing to step down from power
peacefully. Of trying to cheat to win by
engaging in all manner of schemes. Of
trying to dismantle our government, the stability of the country, the democratic
principles of this republic, and turn it into an autocratic fascist authoritarian
state. We are already most of the way
there and we must stop it now.
Any ONE of the things referenced in this blog post would
have ended the presidency or candidacy of any president in our history. The problem now is that there are so many of
these stories because of so much corruption that the news cycle moves from one
horrible scandal to the next and people forget about everything that has
happened before.
Some people may see this post and laugh at the stuff here. They may dispute it. They may believe it’s not true. I really wish it weren’t all true. But it is. These are not made-up accusations; they are topics with numerous examples and on-the-record interviews and video clips and public statements and deep reporting from reputable journalists with real sources. Gaslighting and plausible deniability and doublespeak do NOT make these things untrue or disproven. (PSA: just because a source isn’t revealed to the public does not make the source unreliable or useless. That’s been an accepted part of the journalism business for a long time.)
Just take a second to breathe and think about what you hear in the news these past 5 years. What you see. The kinds of things the president says. It is absolutely batshit crazy, banana republic, things that NEVER should be said by an American politician at any level, let alone the President of the United States.
Do you not see the President’s video clips and the tweets? The fear, the hatred, the bigotry, the incitement of violence, the personal insults, the misrepresenting of facts, the
lying?
The past 5 years IS NOT NORMAL. But they have made it normal – by flooding
the zone with so much shit. It is a
strategy, a very effective one, which the president's people have bragged about, on the record. And it
has been working.
What is the president selling? What is his agenda for a second term? All there is, is fear, name-calling, hate, and lies. There's no policies, no ideas. No details on how the lives of ALL Americans will be made better. He doesn't care about the people that support him; he has been very clear on that during his entire administration. He expects favors and if you don't oblige, then you get the shaft. And he only pretends to care about those who do support him. Don't take my word for it. Take the dozens of people who have known him for years, who worked with him at the White House and have spoken out about it on the record.
There's no summation in this post. I'm tired. And what's the point? But maybe someone will see this post and think twice about their vote on November 3rd. And even if they don't, they will see this and maybe part of it will sink in or resonate, even just a little. And if not, they will have to explicitly ignore it. Either way, these things need to be said and they need to be heard.
Without further ado, here’s some stuff to chew on. Maybe this will remind people of all the
different ways the president has betrayed his oath of office, the country, and
the people.
The A to Z of Things Trump Can and Should Have Been Impeached For
LINK - The Intercept. This is a pretty decent list, but
published Dec 2019 so any of the gems from the past 11 months aren't in
here. All of these are legit, but my
personal favorites: B, E, F, I, L, M, O,
P, W, Z:
- Bigotry
- Emoluments
- Fraud
- Incitement of Violence
- Lies, Lies, and Lies
- Media attacks
- Obstruction of Justice
- Perjury
- Witness Intimidation
- Zelensky
List of foolish, unethical, un-American, and/or illegal things Trump Asked Us to Do
Twitter thread from Miles Taylor - former chief of staff of US Dept of Homeland Security. Some highlights...Trump told his administration:
- Bus thousands and thousands of illegal immigrants (especially those with criminal records) to Democratic sanctuary cities to create instability and strife
- Cut off disaster aid to Democratic states and territories (specifically CA & Puerto Rica) because their people and their elected leaders don’t support me
- Cut off all foreign aid to Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador, even the critical law enforcement cooperation (which helps thwart human smuggling, drug cartels, & sex trafficking) because they’re making me look bad on immigration
- Ditch these NATO countries (despite it being the backbone of the U.S. global defense alliance).
- Stop talking about Russian “election interference,” and I’m going to fire those people that do. Putin is our friend
- "Fucking punish” the Mexicans. (No further information)
- Deliberately rip the children and parents apart at the border to keep them from coming back. Reinstate the policy and make it harsher.
Handy Guide to Trump Scandals and Corruption
LINK - Blogger progressive_va on Daily Kos
Daily Kos is a news/opinion website that skews pretty far
left. This is a Sept 20 article from
this blogger: https://twitter.com/progressive_va
. The items in this list have been
widely investigated and reported by numerous outlets and independent
researchers and journalists over the course of several years. The validity of the information here really
isn’t in dispute except by Trumpers.
This article was useful for me because it pulled together a bunch of the
worst things the president has done against our country all in one place. Most times, the media just reports the latest
story and they don't tabulate or collate or talk about the totality of
destruction and damage. I saw a link to
this article in a comment on some random twitter thread recently; I don't visit
Daily Kos or follow them on social media.
- Mafia ties
- Beyond Russia – other suspicious foreign activity
- Fraud
- Sexual Assault & Abuse
- Nazism & discrimination
- War on truth: lies and propaganda
- War on government ethics
- Emoluments – Raiding the Treasury
- Exploiting the Pandemic
- The Russia conspiracy
Although the article brings up several of the 'worst things,' it is NOT an attempt at a comprehensive list. For example, it makes no mention of Egypt, which is where corruption scandal involving the president has occurred, which sounds like possibly the worst one yet. It seems the clearest, easiest to understand, most blatant corruption involving a foreign country of anything else that has occurred in this administration.
Egypt
Re: Egypt - here's a tweet thread with the highlights, and
link to a 25-minute podcast with way more details. For 3 years, federal prosecutors investigated
this, but they were not able to get access to the president's finances fully to
get to the bottom of this.
Podcast recap: "No honest person can deny this. He was paid $10m from a foreign nation [in Sept 2016], run by a military dictator, he lied about it, he covered it up, it enabled other nations to own him and control him while he occupied the White House. That's not up for debate."
https://twitter.com/ericgarland/status/1317307284251398144?s=20 . The author, Eric Garland, isn't a journalist or media guy. Twitter bio: Intelligence analyst and advisor to CEOs and governments. I break down global events into clear narratives and appropriate profanity.
A bribe was apparently paid by the Egyptian state itself to Donald J. Trump in his personal capacity in the last few weeks of the 2016 campaign. That money was then laundered by Trump himself to his campaign, which then used it.
Trump’s first overseas meeting was to Riyadh on May 20 2017 to sign the largest arms deal in world history with Saudi Arabia. The $350 billion deal involved the transfer of tanks, combat ships missile defense systems, as well as radar, communications and cybersecurity technology.
“You may recall that strange picture of Trump fondling a globe. Joining him in that picture is King Salman of Saudi Arabia and President el-Sisi of Egypt. EGYPT OWNED TRUMP. BECAUSE TRUMP TOOK CASH DIRECTLY FROM ITS GOVERNMENT TO PAY FOR HIS WINNING CAMPAIGN FOR PRESIDENT. Trump was also owned by *any other state with an intelligence service aware of this hidden cash payment.* Because once you're COMPROMISED to that degree, anyone who knows about it can blackmail you. And it has nothing to do with girls peeing on a bed in Moscow. THE REPUBLICAN PARTY RAN ITS 2016 PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN WITH A BRIBE FROM A BRUTAL DICTATOR AND COMPROMISED THE EXECUTIVE BRANCH FOR FOUR YEARS. JUSTICE MUST HOLD THEM TO ACCOUNT FOR THIS.”
